Disaster Management: Commandant Alfadarai Lauds Disaster Management: Commandant Alfadarai Lauds Lagos State Fire Service on Proactive Response, Pays Appreciation Visit, Solicits Effective Collaboration

The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Commandant of Corps Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, fdc, mnim, mpa, fisn, has lauded, the management and staff of the Lagos State Fire Service ( LSFS ), for their excellent performance, timely intervention and proactive response to averting fire outbreaks and other forms of disaster in the state.

The Lagos State Commandant, UI Alfadarai, who also went further to sincerely, appreciate the LSFS, in a visit to its Director, Mrs Margaret Abimbola Adeseye, in her office at Alahusa, Ikeja, yesterday, Wednesday, 17th May, 2023, following the timely support and proactive intervention of the agency towards putting out the fire outbreak, which gutted, section of the Command's storage facility last weekend said that there was need for improved collaboration between both agencies to endeavour them share experiences, jointly respond and timely overcome various disaster cases in the state.

He also lauded the Lagos State Government for the gigantic efforts put in place to equip the LSFS, which has continually helped, them to deliver on their mandates in the state .

The Director, LSFS, Mrs Margaret Abimbola Adeseye, an indomitable chief fire officer, once recognized, in 2021, by the Guardian Newspaper, however, appreciated, the visit of the Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC to her office. She further seized, the opportunity to express her views on some of the operational hazards of the job often faced, by the service in the area of false distress calls from citizens and attacks on her men, while they carried out their duties. 

Finally, the improved synergy between both  services was also  needed, as crisis and  disaster management remained, one of the  integral and historic mandates of the Corps, since inception and the command would be more than ready to further synergize, with the LSFS, in the area of rescue operations, dispatch of armed personnel to fire  incidence sites, in a bid to forestall supposed attacks on the fire men while on duty amongst others.

The NSCDC Lagos State Commandant was also accompanied, by Deputy Commandant of Corps Marian Mbakwe, Head of Crisis and Disaster Management, Assistant Commandant of Corps Musa Abdullahi Jibrin, Head of Anti - vandal Unit and Assistant Superintendent of Corps I Olufemi Irinoye, 2i/c to the Command's Public Relations Officer.
